Jon Long received his B.A. in biochemistry (2007) summa cum laude from Columbia University in New York, NY. He completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute in the laboratory of Benjamin F. Cravatt where he focused on enzymes involved in mammalian neurotransmission and behavior. Following his Ph.D., Jon moved to Boston first as a postdoctoral fellow and then later as Instructor of Cell Biology in the laboratory of Bruce M. Spiegelman at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. There, he studied the biochemical and bioenergetic basis of mammalian energy metabolism. His research has been supported by funding from the American Diabetes Association and the National Institutes of Health
